This book is carefully designed for lower-intermediate level students with an English vocabulary of approximately 2500 to 4500 words. It consists of eight units, each focusing on a topic relevant to everyday life. The engaging and well-balanced activities included will help increase students’ fluency and confidence in listening and speaking.
The warm-up activities are designed to get students familiar with the topics by relating topics to personal experience. They also encourage students to predict unit vocabulary and content. A useful vocabulary box is provided, as well as picture description activities and a comic dialogue to introduce the topic in a light-hearted way.
This section provides a selection of short recorded dialogues or talks based on everyday situations. By completing the listening practices, students’ listening skills such as listening for main idea and specific information will be improved.
This section offers pronunciation rules and guidance to help students speak English more fluently. A matching recorded dialogue is provided for practice.
Useful expressions relevant to the unit are presented, and prompts are provided to allow students to role play in pairs and practice using the language they have learned.
This section includes a video clip of a topic-related dialogue and related listening comprehension questions. Additional information on useful vocabulary and expressions are also provided.
All in all, the Everyday Listening & Speaking series will provide students with the tools they need to feel confident communicating in English.
